| 2/23/2005-SMT Golf Signs Futures Tour Player Debbie Eckroth |
Oswego, IL - SMT Golf announced today that they have signed Futures Tour Player Debbie Eckroth as an SMT Staff Professional and to rep the SMT line of golf equipment on the Futures Tour for 2005. Eckroth is currently eighth on the all-time money leaders list on the Futures Tour and will be gearing up for 2005 season with some new equipment in her bag. Debbie will be playing the SMT Babylon driver, carrying an SMT Staff Bag and wearing the SMT logo on her apparel while playing in Futures Tour events this year. In addition to the Babylon driver, Eckroth is also currently working with Mike Tait, president of SMT Golf, on a set of SMT Solitaire Fairway Woods as well as SMT's new 303cb2 flex-back irons for this season.
In addition to playing SMT's equipment, Eckroth will be functioning as SMT's LPGA & Futures Tour Rep for 2005. "We're very pleased to have Deb both playing our equipment and representing us on the Tour this year, said Mike Tait. "She's had a lot of success on Tour and has built a strong reputation with the women she plays against week in and week out. They respect her and know that if she is playing a club, it's worth looking at. With Deb's assistance, we've come up with a very strong program and expect to get a lot of "play" on the LPGA and Futures Tour this year."
"In all the years I've played competitive golf, I've never hit a ball as far and as straight as I have with this driver, said Eckroth. "The first time I hit the Babylon driver, I was at my home course on the same hole I've been practicing on for over 10 years and it was only 30 degrees outside. I couldn't wait for the weather to break, I was too excited to see how the driver felt. I can tell you exactly where my drive will land on any given day. I hit the ball 20 yards further than I ever have and all the balls were within 5 yards of each other. I was immediately sold. Adding 15 to 20 yards to a drive for a Tour Pro is a big deal. It can be the difference between making a cut and earning a check or going home early. I think a lot of the LPGA and Futures Tour players are going to be excited about the added distance these SMT drivers can bring to their game. I know I am. I've never really been known for my distance off the tee, but I think that's all going to change this year, thanks to SMT."
